On June 9, 2022, Forbes released the 2022 Malaysia Rich List. The list reveals that the total wealth of the 50 individuals on the list has decreased by 10% compared to the previous year, totaling $80.5 billion. Among the 50, 30 individuals saw a decline in their wealth, including Robert Kuok, whose wealth dropped by 10% to $11 billion. Despite this, the 98-year-old tycoon remains Malaysia’s richest person.

The top three positions on this year’s list remained unchanged. Quek Leng Chan, chairman of Hong Leong Group, ranked second, followed by the Goh family, which controls the aluminum giant Press Metal, in third place.
