Hydrogen Industry Leaders Gather at China-Japan Economic Exchange and Hydrogen Industry Matchmaking Conference to Advance Cooperation

On August 27, the China-Japan Economic Exchange and Hydrogen Industry Matchmaking Conference opened in Changchun. As one of the key events of the 15th China-Northeast Asia Expo, the event was held under the theme of “Strengthening Economic Exchange, Deepening Hydrogen Cooperation, and Promoting Open Development,” providing an efficient platform for dialogue and collaboration.

At the conference, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on hydrogen production, storage, transport, and utilization, fuel cell vehicles, and green hydrogen-ammonia supply. They explored cooperation models and promoted joint development of the hydrogen industry. The event is scheduled to take place from August 27 to 28 in both Changchun and Songyuan.

Jilin Vice Governor Yang Andi emphasized in her remarks that Jilin has abundant wind, biomass, and water resources, a solid industrial foundation, and is fully advancing the “Hydrogen-Powered Jilin” action plan. She noted that Northeast Asian developed countries are global leaders in hydrogen R&D and industrial applications, with strong technological complementarity and broad prospects for cooperation.

“This event is a successful continuation of the Tokyo session,” said Takao Donoe, Managing Director of the Japan-China Economic Association, adding that hydrogen is gradually becoming a new focal point for energy cooperation and industrial development.

Around 150 representatives attended the conference, including officials from government departments, executives from leading institutions, representatives of Fortune Global 500 companies, and researchers from renowned institutes, all engaging in exchanges and negotiations on hydrogen industry development.

Zhang Yu, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Hydrogen Energy Branch of the China Industrial Development Promotion Association, suggested that hydrogen should serve as a breakthrough point to jointly build a Northeast Asia green hydrogen-ammonia corridor, promote joint fuel cell vehicle demonstrations and mutual recognition of standards, and accelerate the integration of the regional hydrogen market.

Hiroyuki Hasegawa, Director of the Hydrogen and Ammonia Department at Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), stated: “With improvements in transport technology and the realization of large-scale application, we look forward to seeing hydrogen from Jilin transported to other regions by land or sea.”
