Bangkok, August 27, 2024 — The press conference for the 2024 Tropical Coastal Cities Exchange Event was successfully held today in Bangkok, Thailand. Jointly hosted by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau, the event attracted over 20 major media representatives from the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand (FCCT).

During the press conference, detailed information was shared about the upcoming 2024 Tropical Coastal Cities Exchange Event, scheduled to take place in Sanya, China, from September 4 to 5. Official invitations were also extended to PATA member organizations and tropical coastal cities around the world. By leveraging PATA’s extensive industry network and FCCT’s global media platform, Sanya is further solidifying its position as a world-class coastal tourism destination.
In the presence of distinguished guests, Mr. Ye Jialin, Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau, and Mr. Noor Ahamd Hamid, CEO of PATA, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The two parties reached a preliminary agreement to host the Tropical Coastal Cities Exchange Event in Sanya annually from 2024 to 2026, aiming to continuously enhance the city’s influence in the global tropical island tourism market.
In his speech, Mr. Noor Ahamd Hamid remarked:
“PATA is honored to establish a long-term partnership with Sanya. Through this collaboration, we hope to elevate tropical coastal destinations into world-class, high-quality tourism spots, while also emphasizing the protection of natural resources and cultural heritage.”
Mr. Ye Jialin introduced Sanya’s unique strengths as a tropical coastal tourism city, emphasizing the city’s strategic geographic location, abundant natural beauty, and well-developed tourism infrastructure. He noted that Sanya is accelerating its development as a major international tourism hub.
The press conference also marked a clear signal of Sanya’s intent to deepen cooperation with global tropical coastal cities and tourism organizations. This event is not just a tourism promotion, but also the beginning of an international dialogue and a platform to lead emerging industry trends.
The close collaboration between Sanya and PATA is expected to inject new momentum into the international tourism market and provide strong support for building a “new global tourism brand” for Sanya.
