Yong-Soo Huh, President of the Japan Jilin General Chamber of Commerce, Elected Honorary President of the Jilin Overseas Friendship Association

On June 30, the First Session of the Fifth Council of the Jilin Overseas Friendship Association was held in Changchun. Nearly 300 council members and guests from 66 countries and regions attended the meeting.
A delegation from the Japan Jilin General Chamber of Commerce, led by President Yong-Soo Huh, participated in the event. Other attendees included Long Guozhi, President of the Japan Jilin Association and Vice President of the Chamber; Wang Zhigang, Executive President; Executive Vice Presidents Zhuang Xiaotong and Yuan Lin; Vice President and Secretary-General Li Chao; Vice President Meng Fanhai; and Council Members Liu Xin and Chen Gexin.

During the meeting, Yong-Soo Huh and Wang Zhigang were elected Honorary Presidents of the Fifth Council of the Jilin Overseas Friendship Association. Long Guozhi and Zhuang Xiaotong were elected Vice Presidents, while Yuan Lin, Li Chao, Meng Fanhai, Liu Xin, and Chen Gexin were elected Council Members.
The meeting reviewed the work report of the Fourth Council and successfully completed all election procedures.

Qiu Jiang, President of the Fifth Council of the Jilin Overseas Friendship Association, spoke highly of the achievements of the Fourth Council in serving the overall development of the Party and the country, aligning national strategies with Jilin’s development needs, and promoting exchanges and cooperation between Jilin and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas communities.
He expressed the hope that the Association and its council members would continue to strengthen unity, expand patriotic solidarity, make full use of their extensive networks, attract more high-quality investment projects to Jilin, and broaden Jilin’s international network of friends, while building influential and effective exchange programs with distinctive Jilin characteristics. He also called for cultivating more representatives from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas communities who are committed to supporting Jilin’s development, thereby opening a new chapter for the Association.
Following his election as Honorary President of the Fifth Council, Yong-Soo Huh stated that he would cherish the honor and faithfully fulfill his responsibilities. He said he would leverage his extensive connections to build stronger bridges for China–Japan economic and trade cooperation. He also pledged to closely follow investment trends of Japanese enterprises in China and the complementary strengths of the two countries’ industrial chains, actively facilitate the introduction of high-quality Japanese projects and technologies into Jilin, and support Jilin enterprises in expanding into the Japanese market — contributing to deeper bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
During the event, the organizers also arranged the “Jilin Tour for Overseas Friendship Association Council Members” program. Representatives from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities visited key industrial projects, cultural and tourism destinations, innovation centers, and historical sites across Jilin, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the province’s industrial upgrading, technological innovation, and rich historical and cultural heritage.
